Our Practitioners:

Addiction is one of the most challenging and complicated themes many people face in therapy, usually because of the shameful, self-punishing voice that accompanies any movement towards finding different, healthier ways of coping. Whether you are working towards a new relationship with screen, food, alcohol, pornography, tobacco, vaping, sex or love relationships, my approach begins with validating the role of addiction in its first function which is usually to solve rather than pose a problem. Together we will offer the beliefs underpinning your addiction the time and attention they need before exploring how you can break the cycle and find a new way forward. I have experience of working with clients who are working through, or have completed, the Twelve Steps and find that therapy can sit well alongside this approach as well as being a stand-alone intervention.Alexa Edelist, Psychotherapist and Couple Counsellor >
