Alda Simoni,
Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, MBACP & BPC registered
“You don’t need to have the right words. You just need a place to begin.”
I work with adults who are struggling emotionally, whether that’s anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or a more general sense of being stuck or overwhelmed. Many of the people I see aren’t quite sure what’s wrong, or whether therapy is even the right path. That’s okay. Part of my role is to help you explore those questions in a thoughtful and compassionate way.
My approach is grounded in psychodynamic thinking, which means we’ll look beneath the surface, at the patterns, beliefs, and unconscious processes that shape how you feel and relate to others. This isn’t a quick fix or a set of tools to manage symptoms. It’s a deeper kind of work, aimed at lasting change through greater self-understanding.
I offer open-ended therapy, usually meeting once a week for 50 minutes. Some people choose to come more frequently, depending on what feels right. Sessions are confidential, and I aim to create a space where you can speak freely and explore your thoughts.
Alongside my private practice, I work in the NHS at the Maudsley Hospital, where I’ve gained extensive experience supporting individuals through complex emotional and psychological challenges. I’m fully qualified, insured, and registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC), and I adhere to their ethical standards of good practice.
If you’re unsure about what you need, I offer consultations in order to assess whether we are a good fit to work together. From there, we can decide whether ongoing therapy with me feels appropriate, or whether another route might suit you better.
