“A lot of adult life consists of staying in character, even when you no longer want to.”  – John Lanchester

What I Offer:

People consider therapy for all sorts of reasons but, whatever these are, entering the process can be really daunting. My first aim is to soften this, offering a compassionate and curious space for us to understand your needs from therapy together. I work with both time-focused and longer, open ended approaches with flexibility to adapt as we go along.

For those who want it I offer psychodrama-informed interventions as a tool for either putting inner world outside or taking the role of someone or something from one’s life in order to deepen understanding. This can be through empty chair work or using small objects, fabrics, and art materials for you to look at a particular challenge, relationship, behavioural pattern in a creative, embodied way. Couples find this element to therapy particularly helpful as it can offer some release from the stuckness of the “same old” cycles and narratives, but it’s a great “unblocker” for lots of people and invites a more spontaneous and creative angle on one’s story.

Whether you are seeking a straightforward listening/talking space, something a little more active or a mixture of the two we will work collaboratively to bring about the change you are seeking. I really look forward to hearing from you.

Background And Experience:

As well as over a decade in private practice, I have worked in forensic and rehabilitative hospital and prison settings working with individuals and clients with personality disorders and psychosis as well as substance and behavioural addictions and offending backgrounds. Specialist private practice areas include: a creative approach to anxiety and depression, navigating neurodiversity in a world still built for the neurotypical, perinatal and postpartum depression and psychosis, PMS and PMDD, and the impact of historical/family trauma on current well-being. I am currently the psychodrama psychotherapist on the therapeutic community wing of His Majesty’s Prison Gartree using group-based psychodrama as part of a multidisciplinary team to reduce the risk of serious offending.
