Raquel Patterson, Dramatherapist and Therapeutic Educational Lead

“When we create space for stories to unfold, we invite healing to take root and growth to flourish in its own time.”

“None of us exist in isolation. We are shaped by our early environments, our responsibilities, the roles we have taken on, and the systems we move within. As your therapist, my role is not to impose answers, but to offer a reflective space where complexity can be gently held, understood and made sense of.”

Whatever brings you to my door: a feeling, a rupture, a quiet sense that something within you is asking for attention, you have not come to be judged. You have come to be understood. To be known not only for what has happened to you, but for how those experiences have shaped your inner world.

My Approach

I see therapy as a collaborative journey of discovery. Together, we explore the different parts of you, the roles you have carried, the patterns that have protected you, and the aspects of yourself that may feel hidden or forgotten. From this place of understanding, change becomes possible. Often this work is about returning to a steadier, more authentic sense of self.

Dramatherapy is a creative and embodied form of psychotherapy that allows us to work beyond words when needed. Through metaphor, story and symbolic exploration, we can access experiences that may feel difficult to articulate directly. Whether through conversation or creative process, I offer a compassionate and reflective space where you can explore at your own pace.

When adults, children and young people often find it difficult to express their emotions, particularly during stressful or confusing times. Dramatherapy offers a safe and supportive space where they can explore feelings, process hidden fears and make sense of complex emotions through creative, drama-based approaches such as storytelling, role play, movement and metaphor.
