Sophie Le Roy, Psychotherapeutic Counsellor
“We spend years adapting to environments that were never built for our minds. Therapy can be the place where you stop masking, stop shrinking, and start reconnecting with the self you’ve always been.”
You might be getting through the day but feel constantly overstimulated, misunderstood, or drained from managing expectations that never quite fit who you are. Many of the adults I work with are Autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, or otherwise neurodivergent; some newly discovering their neurotype, others long‑identified but tired of masking, burnout, or feeling like they’re “too much.”
You might be here because something no longer feels sustainable, and you’re wondering whether therapy could be a space where you’re finally seen, not fixed. Many arrive feeling unsure, ashamed, or worried that they’re not struggling ‘enough’ to seek support. You don’t need to be in crisis to begin. If you’re ready to be seen and truly heard, let’s explore whether this is the right space for you.
About Me
I’m Sophie (she/her), a psychotherapeutic counsellor originally from France, now based in the UK. Living and working across cultures in New York, Shanghai, and London has shown me that each person’s story is unique and worth exploring—there’s no single path to feeling whole.
My years teaching in France and in bilingual schools in these cities deepened my understanding of how early-life experiences shape neurodivergent journeys. I saw firsthand how children adapt through masking or developing coping strategies just to get by—patterns they often carry into adulthood.
I specialise in neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive therapy for adults. My background includes both personal and professional experience with neurodivergence, burnout, and life transitions. In sessions, I offer a warm, steady, and curious presence. I build a collaborative space to explore what matters to you, at your own pace and on your own terms.
My approach recognises that many challenges come not from who you are, but from living in environments that weren’t designed to support every kind of mind. I help adults who feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or emotionally exhausted to find what’s sustainable and rebuild self-trust and clarity—whether you’re late-identified as neurodivergent, questioning your identity, or simply needing space to breathe. My aim is to help you move beyond just coping to create a life that feels self-led and authentic, with greater ease. I believe healing is not about fixing who you are, but about reconnecting with the wholeness that’s always been within you.
This work often suits people who:
- Are Autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, gifted, or otherwise neurodivergent (including late‑identified or self‑identifying)
- Experience burnout, overwhelm, masking, identity confusion, or relationship difficulties
- Want to understand themselves more deeply, rather than just “manage symptoms”
- Value a gentle, relational, and non‑pathologising space
In sessions, we tend to:
- Move at your pace: slowing when needed, holding steady through intensity
- Notice how environments and expectations shaped your experiences, without blame
- Explore patterns in emotions, relationships, sensory/social experiences, so you feel less alone
Sessions usually feel:
- Grounded and reflective, never rushed
- Collaborative: you’re the expert on your life; I’m walking alongside
- Flexible for your needs (e.g. breaks, movement, sensory adjustments welcome)
I help adults who:
- feel overwhelmed by work and life, struggle with burnout, stress, or low mood
- feel stuck in unhelpful patterns and long for more genuine, nourishing connections
- are late-identified as neurodivergent and want to understand their experiences to create a more supportive, sustainable life
- have always been “the strong one” and are feeling the emotional toll of holding everything together
- have been living with long-term shame or self-criticism and want to cultivate more self-compassion
- need space to process grief, loss, or a sense of ongoing overwhelm
- struggle with relationship boundaries and repeating patterns that are hard to change
- want to explore the impact of trauma, including childhood emotional neglect, complex family dynamics, and long-term invalidation
- are questioning their identity or self-worth, or feel either “too much” or “not enough”
- have been living across cultures or countries, exploring belonging, migration, “inbetween” experiences, and making sense of their unique story
