Marianne Lucas, Registered MBACP, Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist
“Therapy is a journey of self-discovery—where safety, understanding, and growth go hand in hand.”
Marianne Lucas is an integrative therapist whose approach is rooted in empathy and compassion. She deeply values the client-therapist relationship, recognising its central role in the therapeutic process. Her goal is to cultivate a space where clients feel truly heard, seen, and safe.
As an integrative psychotherapist, Marianne integrates multiple therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, person-centred, and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), allowing her to tailor her approach to suit clients’ individual needs. Marianne’s approach is also relational, centred on the premise that it is the client-therapist relationship that facilitates healing.
“Life can be challenging, and sometimes we all need a little extra support. I offer a warm, non-judgmental, confidential space where you are welcome to come as you are and where, together, we can work collaboratively to explore the issues that are troubling you.”
Her primary aims include creating a welcoming and secure environment for exploration, helping clients gain insight into how past experiences may be shaping their present, and empowering them to make informed choices about their future. When appropriate, she provides practical tools to support reflection and the gentle challenge of unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns.
“I believe the client-therapist relationship plays a vital role in the therapeutic process, so my priority is to develop a relationship with you in which you feel heard, feel seen, and feel safe. My approach is rooted in genuine empathy and compassion, and I aim to create a safe environment for you to explore your experiences, thoughts and feelings. My focus is on your wellbeing, therefore therapy will be a collaborative process, where we will regularly review how you are finding the therapy process and whether it is working for you.”
Through your work, you may find:
- Insight and Self-Awareness: gaining a deeper understanding of yourself, your patterns of thinking and feeling, the ways your past may have shaped your present
- Healing: processing past wounds and how these have impacted you, and beginning the path towards the healing process
- Self-Compassion: Developing your self-understanding, self-compassion, and self-care
- Building Resilience: exploring coping strategies and ways to care foryourself, empowering yourself, and feeling more self-confident in navigating life’s challenges
