“Standing alongside you with compassionate listening, whilst we explore ways for you to live a more emotionally fulfilling life”
Having been involved in the field of mental health for 25 years, I qualified as a Humanistic/Person-Centred Counsellor in 2003 and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist in 2016. The therapeutic services I provide include counselling and psychotherapy for adults and adolescents which can be time-limited and/or open-ended. My primary focus is to support and nurture the psychological wellbeing of all, encouraging collaborative work between client and therapist, that is to say ‘we are in this together’. I offer individual sessions and couple counselling.
The paradox of “learning and unlearning” about behaviours which are unhelpful during therapy can offer powerful transformative insights; thus, nurturing the mind to reach your full potential and therefore lead a more emotionally satisfying quality of life. It is a brave step when an individual decides to access therapeutic support, this can be for a variety of reasons, whether you are feeling low or anxious or have simply lost direction in life and would like to explore a deeper understanding of this, therapy can help. I am a qualified Humanistic/Person-Centred Counsellor and a Psychodynamic and Intercultural Psychotherapist.
Drawing from the above therapeutic frameworks we can work collaboratively to reduce symptoms and overcome obstacles which can cause us to live a life with limitations. The therapeutic services I provide include counselling and psychotherapy for individual adults, couples and adolescents which can be time-limited and/or open-ended. My primary focus is to support and nurture the psychological wellbeing of all, encouraging collaborative work between client and therapist, that is to say “we are in this together”.
I am registered with The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and a member of The College of Psychoanalysts U.K.
My ‘first’ language (mother-tongue) is Punjabi. I was born in England and speak fluent English as well as Hindi and Urdu. Therapy can be conducted in any of the above languages and/or Bi-lingually for those seeking therapy in their native tongue.
Added to the above, the spiritual teachings of my ‘Sikh’ faith advocates equality amongst individuals, spiritual guidance and most significantly encourages respect and acknowledgment of all fellow human beings.
One of the principles of the faith is ‘Sewa’ – an act of selflessness which is to be of service to humanity. From a Western perspective, this can be closely translated to Altruism.
The faith places emphasis on recognising each individuals emotional pain and suffering and to respond to this with thoughtfulness and above all compassion. For me, this means extending ‘emotional generosity’ which I have developed over the course of my therapeutic practice.
