Iqra Humayyon,
Integrative Therapist, Trauma Coach, BACP accredited

“My aim is to offer a place where you can craft your next chapter, nurturing and providing a space for your story to find its voice.”

Facing one’s own thoughts can be a daunting journey, and therapy often feels like a challenging path to navigate. It’s important to remember that you don’t have to face these challenges alone; reaching out for support is a powerful and brave decision. Iqra is committed to providing a safe and accepting space for her clients, allowing them to delve deeper and explore any inner conflicts they may be experiencing. She prioritises being open and accepting of anything that is discussed, ensuring an environment that is free-flowing for any thoughts and feelings. Her goal is to be all-inclusive, making sure everyone feels supported, irrespective of their background, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

Iqra is a compassionate and dedicated therapist who believes in the power of a non-judgmental space. She emphasises creating a “zone of free judgement” where clients can bring any concern, big or small, and know they will be listened to and understood. Iqra’s approach is rooted in empathy and respect, ensuring that every individual feels safe and valued.

Iqra recognises the bravery it takes to start therapy. She honours the courage of those who take this important step towards self-discovery and healing. By acknowledging the strength it takes to seek help, she empowers her clients to embrace their journey with confidence and hope. She believes that it is through a willingness to express vulnerability and transparency that healing can truly happen, which is why she prides herself in her open and accepting approach to therapy.

Iqra believes that the therapist’s congruence can enhance a client’s ability to overcome a lack of self-worth. From her experience, genuine care, understanding, openness, and support from the therapist go a long way towards making people feel appreciated and safe. These factors benefit the individual’s sense of self-worth and moral judgement.

In today’s society, anxiety, stress, and depression are prevalent. Iqra emphasises the importance of having a practice and outlet that grounds oneself. She believes that inner work, combined with an understanding of various approaches to dealing with the human mind and behaviour, can help overcome many obstacles in clients’ lives, whether internal or external.

Therapeutic approach:

She takes on an integrative approach, drawing from several therapeutic approaches, to best meet the needs of each unique individual. A personal favourite of Iqra’s is the gestalt and existential approaches, which allow a person to pay close attention to their own body and mind. The more awareness and focus one has of oneself, the higher the likelihood of overall mental well-being and success. Bringing the client to the “here and now” can make them realise the true potential of their control over their mental capacity and provide them with the tools for their own inner transformation. She works with CBT, Transactional analysis and other metodologies.

Iqra has previously offered emotional support, companionship, and empathy to people suffering from loneliness or life-threatening illness at St. Joseph’s Hospice. Most of these patients had no visits from family members, which adversely impacted their mental health. She also worked remotely with Intern HQ in psychology, located in Spain. In a role that involved translating Serenmind psychological therapy programmes, she learned about autogenic relaxation techniques in-depth. The target of autogenic training is to relax the body and mind. Most importantly, she learned that the mind and body work together to become calm.

Some of the issues she works with:

  • Panic Attacks
  • Anxiety
  • Sexual orientation
  • Cultural identity
  • Narcissistic abuse recovery
  • ADHD
  • Self esteem
  • Trauma/PTSD

Iqra studied psychology (BSc) at the University of Westminster and holds a postgraduate degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regent’s University London. She is a certified Integrative Trauma Coach from Aura Institute and a qualified Forest Bathing Practitioner trained by Forest Therapy Hub. Iqra looks forward to working with clients on their inner journey to peace and joy.
