Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS):

PMS encompasses a wide range of physical and emotional symptoms that occur before menstruation. Common symptoms include mood swings, anxiety, irritability, fatigue, bloating, breast tenderness, headaches, and changes in appetite and sex drive. PMS can significantly affect daily activities for about a third of women. It occurs during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle (usually around day 15) and typically resolves within a few days of menstruation starting.

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD):

PMDD is a severe form of PMS, affecting around 5% . Symptoms are similar to PMS but more intense and negatively impact daily life. These symptoms include mood changes, anxiety, lethargy, and decreased interest in usual activities. PMDD can be debilitating, affecting work, relationships, and overall well-being. In extreme cases, it may even lead to suicidal thoughts. Psychotherapy, particularly CBT can help manage these symptoms.

Menopause:

Menopause marks the end of a person’s reproductive years. It occurs when the ovaries stop releasing eggs, leading to hormonal changes (especially decreased estrogen and progesterone). Menopause can bring physical and emotional changes, including hot flashes, mood swings, sleep disturbances, and vaginal dryness. It may also impact bone health and cardiovascular health. Counselling or support groups can help people navigate this transition. This phase of adulthood is a canvas for creativity, where we encounter fresh realities, acknowledge our inner transformations, and embrace our mortality. Embracing this life stage allows us to release old paradigms, gain a fresh outlook on ourselves, and discover newfound freedom.

Our Practitioners:

Magdalena is curious and inquisitive about the co-revelations between women’s hormonal imbalance and mental health at any stage of their lives. It is an aspect of women’s mental health that is often neglected, Magdalena seeks to aid and help identify whether hormonal imbalance plays a role in the mental health struggles a person faces.
