Trauma is when a person experiences very stressful, frightening or distressing events that are difficult to cope with or out of our control. It could be one incident, or an ongoing event that happens over a long period of time. Most people will experience an event in their lives that could be considered traumatic. There are many types of therapy a person could embark on to tackle your trauma and learn to accept, heal and move forward.

Hear from our Practitioners on Trauma/PTSD:

Magdalena Wachowska, Integrative Psychotherapist, ADHD Counsellor, Polish therapist

“I understand that traumatic experiences affect not only one’s mind, but also the body, and both need to be healed. Trauma changes the brain and the body, and similarly, healing does too.”

Kimberly Jano, Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapist, Hungarian Counsellor

“Trauma can affect how safe you feel in your body, your relationships, and your daily life. I offer a supportive and paced approach, focusing first on building safety and stability. We may use CBT techniques to process difficult experiences, alongside mindfulness and grounding practices to help you feel more anchored in the present.”

Maria Troupkou, Movement and Somatic Psychotherapist London

“Trauma can be like a filter through which we experience the world, colouring our thoughts, emotions, and relationships in ways we may not always realise. Past experiences can shape how we respond to situations in the present, often leaving us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from ourselves and others. Trauma is not only held in our memories but also stored in the body, showing up through tension, anxiety, or patterns of behaviour that can feel difficult to change. In our work together, I offer a safe and compassionate space to gently explore your experiences at your own pace. I can support you to acknowledge your trauma, understand it, and make sense of it, helping you put the pieces in order so that the weight of the past doesn’t define your future. By connecting with both your body and mind, we can work towards releasing what is held, fostering healing, and creating space for new ways of relating to yourself and the world around you.”

Maria Troupkou, Psychotherapist
Marianne Luca, Psychotherapist eating disorders

“Trauma can impact everyone in different ways, sometimes profoundly impacting our lives and wellbeing. It can be helpful to have a safe space to process and make sense of what you are currently experiencing, to gain a better understanding of how your brain and body may have been impacted by the trauma, and to explore which grounding strategies you may find helpful to use when feeling overwhelmed. Integrative therapy places a focus on your wellbeing, moving through the therapeutic process at a pace that feels safe for you, and empowering you on your journey of healing.”

Delfina Krause, Psychologist and Psychotherapist. Expats London Therapist. Therapy in Spanish.

“I provide trauma-informed care that prioritises safety, trust, and empowerment. My work supports clients in processing traumatic experiences and rebuilding a sense of stability and self-worth.”
