No two therapeutic journeys are the same.
You may begin with a clear sense of what you’re looking for—perhaps a specific approach like psychodynamic therapy or EMDR, or a wish to work on anxiety, loss, or relationship patterns. Or you might simply know that something doesn’t feel right, and that you want to talk to someone who can help. Wherever you’re starting from, we’re here to support you.
We hold close relationships with all the therapists we work with. This means we don’t just know their qualifications—we understand how they work, the subtleties of their therapeutic style, their areas of specialism, and the kinds of clients they tend to work well with. So whether you’re looking for something specific or aren’t sure where to begin, we can help connect you with options that align with your needs and goals.
Begin by Exploring Profiles
A good first step is to spend some time reading through the therapist profiles. These aren’t just credentials and job titles—they’re introductions to real people. Each profile is written to give you a sense of how that therapist works, what they care about, and who they tend to work best with.
You might find yourself drawn to someone because of their approach or specialism. Or it might be something more subtle—a tone, a phrase, a way they describe their work that just feels right. That intuition is worth listening to.
Consider a Discovery Call
Words on a page can only go so far. That’s why we always recommend arranging a short discovery call with any therapist you’re considering. These calls, usually around 10 minutes, are informal and relaxed—a chance to get a feel for the person behind the profile.
You might notice how they respond to your questions, whether their tone feels calm or animated, structured or spacious. Do they reflect something back that makes you feel heard? Do you feel at ease speaking with them, even in a brief exchange?
This first contact can often reveal whether there’s potential for a trusting connection. And if you’re unsure who to call first, we’re always available to guide you based on our knowledge of each therapist’s way of working.
Book an Initial Consultation
If the discovery call feels right, the next step is to book an initial consultation. Whether online or in person, this session gives you and the therapist a chance to properly meet, to explore your reasons for seeking therapy, and to begin sensing how it might feel to work together.
People leave first sessions with a range of feelings. Some feel hopeful, even relieved. Others might feel unsettled, having touched into things they’ve long held back. All of these reactions are part of the process.
What matters most is whether you felt some sense of connection, safety, or possibility. These are the foundations for a therapeutic relationship to grow.
It’s Okay to Say No
Therapy works best when it’s rooted in honesty—and that begins with how you choose your therapist. If, after the first session (or even the discovery call), something doesn’t feel right, it’s okay to say no. That doesn’t mean anything is wrong. It simply means the fit wasn’t quite there.
You are very much in control of who you allow to accompany you on this journey. It’s personal, and it should feel right to you.
If something didn’t work, we welcome your reflections. With that understanding, we can help you refine your search and move a step closer to someone who does feel like the right match.
Take Your Time
There is no rush. No deadline. No standard pace.
Therapy is a journey, and it happens in your own time. Whether you’re ready to begin now or need space to explore your options, we’re here when you need us. And we’ll walk with you, gently and supportively, as you move toward whatever healing, clarity, or change you’re seeking.
If you’d like guidance at any point, we’re always happy to talk things through.
